What Marines Say About the CDR |

The situations were similar to the things I found myself doing in Kosovo. The CDR was some of the best training I've done.
It makes you think under pressure. It's the closest thing to real situations. Not only does the squad leader learn, so does everyone watching. It puts the Marine on the spot. It's very realistic. I like it better than TDGs. It allows you to make combat decisions without actually being in combat. Realistic graphics and scenarios. It forces leaders to make split-second decisions. It gets you thinking; you see what you do right or wrong. Puts pressure on the squad leader that you would only find in combat. It's tough -- so many decisions in so little time. Some Marines seem to have all the answers. But in front of the CDR, they freeze up because of the pressure and noise. It is definitely a challenge. Everyone in the room was playing along. As close to combat as it can possibly get without being there. Very challenging, ever-changing, and evolves quick rational decision-making skills. This is good to go. This system will save lives in combat. |
