I. Combat Decision Range This is a rifle range for the mind. In pressure situations, decisions are based on experience, not on analysis. GAMA has developed a computer-based multimedia training technique which places the participant in stressful situations where decisions must be made instantly. The purpose is to gain experience by acting and experiencing the consequences, just as a flight simulator does for a pilot, (only at a fraction of the cost). The computer video, graphics and sound are controlled by a facilitator who interacts with the participants. Available in multiple CD-ROMs, the Combat Decision Range, or CDR, is deployed to all infantry regiments in the Marine Corps.

II. Gaming A game is a situation in which power, maneuver and chance – as distinct from systematic analysis - determine the outcome among groups with competing objectives. GAMA employs different gaming methodologies. For example, GAMA introduced ‘path gaming’: the participants must pursue first one path and then another, rather than prematurely leap to one consensus answer. As another example, GAMA arranged competitions for senior military officers against ‘unusual suspects’, such as futures traders, who approach issues from quite different frames of reference. GAMA strives to bring an innovative approach to every game. GAMA has conducted over 100 games.

III. Seminars & Analyses These mainly pertain to geopolitical and Defense issues. Working with the client, GAMA organizes the participants, selects the venue, writes and distributes the issues, facilitates the session(s) and writes the report. Often Delphi polling is employed to determine the sense of the group. GAMA has conducted over 60 such sessions.

IV. Energy Emergency & Natural Disaster Exercises GAMA trains states, corporations and federal agencies in command & control and coordination of response and relief services. Multimedia immersion is used to impart a sense of urgency. GAMA has conducted over 50 exercises throughout the United States and Europe.
